Happy Birthday Mr Wren
I agree that it is harder as you get older because people get caught up in their world, usually involving existing friends and family and your Mum has a point on that score but you are certainly not on your own in the need to do this….to meet new people to have a life….it’s finding the kindred spirits that the hard bit.
There is a empty paddock behind my yard and I have a broken fence. When we have had really dry conditions the kangaroos can often be seen in the back paddock and sometimes they are desperate enough to come into my yard looking for grass. I hadn’t seen them for about 6 months and they were back about 3 weeks ago. I haven’t seen them since but we have had rain this winter. I love it, I hope that it is a long time before the housing encroaches.
are certainly counted as family, but I was meaning those of the human kind!
Book then movie.
I am hunting my kids books so I can re read it but I jumped for joy when I visited my parents and discovered the DVD sitting on their shelves….I know what I am doing this weekend.
that Mr Wren is worthy of such a fine gift? ;) Now I have a new mission… the book will no longer be enough.
.....now that is a cool gift. I have been keeping my eyes open for ages for that one in our local bookstores with no luck!.....i found it on Amazon and discovered that there is a series of them now. Might have to stick them on my Christmas wish list.
I absolutely adore this book…..I think I was 10 when I first read it. Love the animated film too.
So glad you are back!
Last weekend I had a fantastic picnic on a beach at the Northern end of Fraser Island. It was wonderful. I was taken in a friends (small) boat…without the slightest indication of sea sickness. It was a glorious day and we hopped out on the bank of a creek overlooking the bay. The sand was pure white, and the ocean so many shades of blue that I can’t describe it. A dingo came to visit (which put me a little on edge given that my fear of dogs is comparable to my fear of dentists) and watched the entire 4 hours or so we were there. It wasn’t sunrise at all but it was a great picnic, I can’t believe that I lived up there for 3 years and never had such an experience and it is only since I left 18 months ago that I have had the opportunity. There were only two things wrong, that I didn’t take my camera and I left my book behind, it would’ve been great to read while they were fishing.
